David was Deputy Staff Secretary to President Bill Clinton, part of a small team that managed the paper flow to and from the Oval Office, coordinating all offices of the White House in presenting written memoranda to the President, managing all signings of legislation, Executive Orders, and other Presidential documents, and overseeing the correspondence and Clerk’s offices of the White House. He also served as Media Legal Advisor to a Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission, advising on all cable, satellite, and broadcast matters. David began his career in government working as a Professional Staff Member to the Senate Subcommittee on Government Information and Regulation, chaired by Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI), and the Select Committee on Narcotics, chaired by Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY).
David founded a lobbying and public policy firm, representing Fortune 500 corporations, non-profit organizations, and start-up businesses in the telecommunications, renewable energy, home-building, and technology sectors. He has advocated before Congress, the FCC, the White House, the Department of Commerce, and multiple State legislatures. Prior to founding his firm, David served as Vice President of Law and Public Policy at DISH Network, the third-largest pay-TV provider in the U.S., where he managed all federal and state legislative affairs, along with the political activities of the company and its senior executives. David also held positions in Programming, Regulatory Affairs, and Business Development. David was named by Multichannel News as one of the “40 Under 40” and by Broadcasting & Cable as a “Fifth Estater.”
David Co-Founded Air America Radio, the first commercial “Progressive Talk” radio network in the U.S. He created and co-hosted “Left Jab” on Sirius-XM, a weekly progressive talk radio show on “Sirius Left.” He is a regular contributor to MSNBC, where he wrote and delivered the “Daily Rant” every Tuesday on the Dylan Ratigan Show, and to CNBC, where he relishes debates with Larry Kudlow. David also is a blogger on the Huffington Post.
David is Of Counsel at the law firm of Weiner Brodsky Kider LLC in Washington, D.C. He was an associate at the firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher. He graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor on the American Criminal Law Review. He is a past co-chairman of the Federal Communications Bar Association Legislation Committee.
David is an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, Professorial Lecturer (adjunct faculty) at George Washington University Law School and a guest lecturer at Georgetown University’s Semester in Washington program.
